Harry Styles is three for three. His new album, Fine Line, out December 13, is shaping up quite nicely and arrives as the year’s final major release. He’s fashionably late (as the cover art would attest), but for good reason: he’s making the best music of his solo career so far.
“Adore You” is a gooey slow-jam full of “ooo”s and a groove for days. “You don’t have to say you love me / You don’t have to say nothing / You don’t have to say you’re mine,” he sings, tantalizing and sweet on the pre-chorus. But once he has you hooked, there’s no escaping his smoldering alto.
“I’d walk through fire for you / Just let me adore you,” he sings. He hangs his gaze upon only a new lover, whose own infatuation becomes tangled with his. The three-minute, 27-second track is a blissful saunter through a romantic wonderland, and only the present moment matters.
