Matt Jordan – “Alive”

There comes a point in your life when you’ve got to stop making excuses and own your life. Brandishing a deep-chested, scratchy bellow, Matt Jordan wonders about this life, choices he’s made, and what, if anything, he had control over with his destiny. “Alive” has morphed over the years since he first put pen to paper, but the sentiment echoes across that time like howling into a bullhorn.

“Ain’t much to my name but this hand-me-down car / A full tank of gas we can burn / We can fire up the engine / And kick up some dust,” he suggests. He’s speaking literally here, but the intent roars from his lungs and underlines life’s innate adventure that’s there for the taking. Carpe diem, as they say.
