Jonathan Something is slowly making some noise. He’s the kind of pop rebel on the edge of a full-blown breakout. From his 2018 debut, Outlandish Poetica, to his latest string of singles, he’s a bonafide star. “Sticky Love” is the newest proof of his genius; it’s as if he’s shoved the entire decade of the ‘80s into a shredder until there was nothing left and then re-strung what was left with a horror soundtrack.
“Where are those flowers? / Where have they gone to? / You used to wear rhododendrons in your hair,” he remembers, sculpting with rich specificity. “I ate some poison Oleanders / You took off while I vomited everywhere.” Something manages to swallow you whole, and his lyrical thorns will surely prick your skin… deep.
