Ross Cooper has an irresistible gallop to him. As you’ll witness with his delightful salutation “Hello Sunshine,” his first bit of new music since 2018’s excellent I Rode the Wild Horses, the chipper cowboy tune washes away sadness in favor of the new day’s sun that appears to inject him with renewed purpose. “I watch the clouds drift away,” he remarks.
“So long sadness, I never liked you anyway,” Cooper dusts off his worried mind. The new day stretches before him, and instead of lingering on what was, he eyes what could be. “I took some time to clean the mess / Combed my hair, and I got dressed / And finally found some plans to make.” It’s a groovy, invigorating little ditty perfect for these very sad times.
