Sean McVerry slithers out of his skin before donning a whole new aesthetic. He’s moved from puffing clouds of glitter synths into a more classic pop/rock shell, as evidence with his new song.
Feeling Beatles-influenced, “Crybaby” wobbles along the sidewalk, and McVerry tostles the melody with his signature yearning. “Don’t beat yourself up kid,” he crows. He gives himself a much-needed pep talk, despite all the cards being stacked against him.
