Charlotte Clark’s “Warm Weather” is a sly one. Its musical bones roll and smolder like a bluesy indie track, crunches barreling along as expected, but it’s heart soon throbs with a smooth, soul-howling crescendo. Clark lets her voice fly up and around the melody with acrobatic precision.
“The voices in my mind, they leave me blue,” she sings. She nearly gets lost in a choir of voices in her head, telling her things aren’t as beautiful as they seem. Clark can break free, if only she can muster up enough strength, and by song’s end, she just might rise victorious.
