There’s an immediacy to Kelsy Karter’s vocals. When the first few notes fall off her tongue, you know you’re going to be transported to a throwback era of pop music. With “I’m So Mad at Him,” off her debut LP, Missing Person, she blends ‘60s style with an early ‘00s pop/rock Avril-like upper cut.
“He’s had sixty second chances / Oh, but I’ve stopped countin’ now / And by ‘countin’ now,’ I’m talkin’ ’bout / The millions of times he didn’t stand up for me / When I was getting shit from his family, mmh,” she sings. Karter never backs down, and why should she, she’s right.
