You know immediately when Soleima sings. Her tone is “quirky girl” but marked with a palpable zest. Her uniqueness elevates her words higher than you might expect. With her new song “Force of Nature,” the follow-up to her debut LP Powerslide, oozes a gummy groove and lingers like a lollipop residue.
“Never saw you coming / Oh, so glad you came,” she sings. The instrumentation is appropriately stormy, crescendoing with piercing strings, and she never misses a beat.
