Let’s be upfront: we’ve stanned Harrison Wheeler since his American Idol days. His run was tragically brief (he deserved to make the live shows), but he’s continued making some of the best pop music around. In a stylistic swerve, he goes full-on pop balladeer with “Everything is Bad,” a somber, falsetto-stamped entry that captures 2020.
His voice floats over ivories with commanding ease. “You’re the one thing I can hold on to,” he croons. It’s almost timeless, like a Billy Joel b-side. Such style fits Wheeler like a glove.
