Emily Weisband – “Out of This Car”

The breakup happened on New Year’s Day. But the accomplished songwriter wasn’t about to let it damper her year. Known for penning songs for Camila Cabello, Keith Urban, and others, Emily Weisband uncages her emotions and lets them run across stark piano chords. “Out of this Car” is the kind of sad bop we all need right now.

“When I get out of this car / We’re dead to me, that’s it, don’t care, no changes of heart,” she sings. “Don’t call, don’t write, we’re done, when I get out of this car.” A tinge of anger laces her lips, holding onto her composure until the car ride ends, and then she’ll scream in solitude.
