I think I’ve tweeted this a million times already, but: Chelsea Lee is a powerhouse vocalist, and we don’t deserve her. Lead vocalist of three-piece SHAED, she can soar on some glossy rock-bent melodies like a falcon in mid-flight. That’s certainly the case with their new single “Once Upon a Time.”
Its timelessness is only matched by Lee’s classic pop twirl. “Once upon a time, we were gonna have a life / You had the car running, all you had to do was drive,” she sings, staging a relationship’s severe demise as an epic fairy tale. It’s as elegant as it is heartbreaking.
