There’s such gravitas to Charley Crockett’s tone. It’s weighted like an anvil, yet flighty as a songbird. So, it’s not too surprising his adaptation of Billy Swan’s “I Can Help” merges both qualities like bubblegum melting on the sidewalk. He adheres to the throwback style, and marries it with his own unique swagger.
“Don’t forget me, baby / All you gotta do is call,” his swarthy timbre climbing right into your heart. “When you’re in trouble / I’ll do anything at all.”
