If you talk to most artists, they’ll tell you the same: they’ve taken life for granted. Touring musicians particularly found it difficult to adjust to the ongoing pandemic, and so they turned to songwriting to express deep pangs of regret. Pop-country newcomer Jessamynn’s entire new creative outlet sprouted out of such angst.
Her debut song “Gold” sparkles with an earnest desire to do things a little bit differently. “Every second passing is collecting with the past,” she sings. It’s both a statement of fact and a weepy lamentation. “What if all I’m searching for isn’t all the gold at the end of the road” has never felt more timely.
