Beach Bunny just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Even with the venomous “Blame Game,” a teardown of sexist culture, there is a warmth wrapped around Lili Trifilio’s hypnotic lead vocal. But if you get too close, the lyrics will bulldoze you over and shock the system.
“Posters and TV tell me my body / Is for others’ satisfaction, get a sexual reaction,” Trifilio acknowledges. She delivers with precision, the lo-fi rock production certainly playing against her, but it’s done in such a way that lures you in and traps you.
