I’m convinced Teddy Swims can move mountains with only his voice. Guitar in tow, “Simple Things” seeks to detonate the heartstrings in one full swoop. Even as a heart-palpitating percussion seeps into the arrangement, driving it all so tenderly forward, Swims never loses sight of dishing up a subtle, totally pulverizing performance. “It’s the sound of the rain coming down when you fall asleep,” he muses, offering one of many simple things that brings him sheer joy.
