The Dumes – “Staring at the Wall”

“I can be a bit of a bitch,” seethes The Dumes frontwoman Elodie Tomlinson. Indie rock cool, emitting thumb-biting fumes, the west coast band flicks cigarette ash into a gasoline tank. And the explosion is as cleansing as it is just so rock ‘n roll. “Staring at a Wall” clatters with electric guitar, and Tomlinson’s voice a drop of honey, covering the listener like the promotional art for that new I Know What You Did Last Summer series. “Sometimes, I hold my breath at night,” Tomlinson makes such an odd-ball admission to reconfigure the song’s erratic emotional state.
