The thing about dying is: we can’t take anything with us. Pots, pans, furniture, bric-a-brac, all of it ends up cycled through other people’s lives – collecting dust on shelves in thrift stores or auctioned off in estate sales. It’s a little peculiar to think about, honestly. With her song “Dead People’s Things,” off her long-waited new LP HitchHiker, Crystal Bowersox suggests as much. “So, I keep buying paint to cover the pain / Till I come back to life like these dead people’s things,” she sings.
