stef – “Funeral”

We’ve all perhaps wondered what those moments after our death will be like. stef’s “Funeral” contrasts against Miley Cyrus’ “Hate Me,” both dealing handily with perceptions in life and the after, and mourns life as much as it does long for mourning. “Would you come to my funeral?” the singer-songwriter nudges on the chorus. The song confronts rather than side-steps. It’s moodiness is enveloping, entrenched in a Phoebe Bridgers approach. Having endured her own tragedy, stef reflects upon her own inevitable mortality and captures the entirety of human existence in three minutes.
