One of the greatest, and maybe even most tragic, aspects of humanity is a deep hunger to love and be loved. Dermot Kennedy pleads to the cosmos about such an ordeal with a new song titled ‘Something to Someone.” Sweeping from tender piano to rib-shaking percussion, the song works the tear ducts into overdrive. “Once upon a time, you were by my sidе / I wish I could’ve known that I should hold on tight,” he agonizes over the past. He’s both trembling with anger and resentment, thorns to the same emotional vine that sink deep into the skin. Heartbreak and regret are those experiences that come for us sooner or later.
