Ingrid Andress – “Pain”

It’s never easy to accept pain in the moment, when the feelings rush through your head and bones. Ingrid Andress steps back from her own experiences, far removed with time’s help, and offers up sage wisdom about the necessity of it all. “It might sound insane, but I promise one day you’ll gon’ be thankin’ your lucky stars for all this pain,” she sings. “Pain” is torchy and feverish, its waltz-like saunter erupting as a cathartic vein to freedom. On the second verse, she advises, “Without the pain, how would you know what things to change, what stays the same?”
