Catie Turner plots the perfect, most salacious revenge on an ex. Instead of wallowing in her tears, she turns her gaze upon her ex’s father and vows to steal his heart. “Step Mom” bubbles with a glossy indie-rock sensibility but packs on the quirk for good measure. And it’s got a melody to literally die for. “I won’t beg you for a second chance,” she promises, “‘cause I got a man now with a good health plan / I’m going to steal your dad / Be the best he ever had / Send your mom home crying.” It’s ripe for the tabloids, and we are living for it.
