Nostalgia is all the rage these days. And why shouldn’t it be when the world is an absolute dumpster fire. Pop juggernaut Lauv grows increasingly wistful for his youth on “Kids are Born Stars.” While managing to reminisce on seminal experiences like an eighth grade dance, he inspires his younger self with the knowledge that one day he would be a household fixture. “Taste the moment before it’s time before you go and break my heart / You should know, I’ma be a really big star,” he sings. Even given the necessary heartbreaks in life, he suggests maybe the sting would have hurt a whole lot less given his eventual trajectory. One can dream.
