Lauren Pritchard growls with her whole chest. With Broadway roots, the singer-songwriter wields her voice with Olympic-approved agility and craft. The release of a brand new record, titled simply Lauren, sees Pritchard (known onstage as LOLO) mining her personal molting and rebirth in a soul-ravaging and cutting way. “Praying for Daylight” confronts mortal flaws and seeks absolution at the end of her life. “I never said I was a saint / I might have lied and stolen / But I never hurt no one like they say,” she barks in a crunchy rasp. “I’ll keep running till the day I die / And I hope the Lord forgives me when I see Him in the sky.”
