Review Roundup – Sam Tompkins, Zach Hood, We Three & Bre Kennedy

Three rising pop artists that are destined for bright futures and one rising country singer-songwriter make-up this week’s review roundup.

Sam Tompkins – “Lose It All”

If Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber had a baby, you’d get Sam Tompkins. The UK singer-songwriter is showing his vulnerable side on new single, “Lose It All.” The acoustically driven ballad puts Tompkins’ incredibly controlled and commercial vocals on front street as he delivers what may be the perfect wedding song. His innate ability to tell a story in song format is evident as he passionately sings about a once in a lifetime love.

Zach Hood – “when she was mine”

Zach Hood reflects on what could have been on new single, “when she was mine.” The mid-tempo track features a driving rhythm and Hood’s passionate and trembling vocals. In the first verse, Hood recalls an epic, young love that had all the makings of forever. It isn’t until the final verse though that Hood ties the tale up in a bow as he reveals that his former partner did find everything she was looking for, just not with him. The lyrics are cleverly written and delivered and Hood’s impressive vocals shine throughout.

We Three – “50 Shades of Pink”

We Three never fails to deliver songs full of swagger. On “50 Shade of Pink” the sibling trio release a fast-paced love song tinged with harmonies and layered soundscapes. The lead singer takes off as the song begins and immediately delivers catchy lyrics with ease and a borderline rap sound. With over 65 million streams and airplay in the UK, this highly commercial pop group is well on their way to establishing themselves as a powerhouse in the genre.

Bre Kennedy – “Before I Have A Daughter”

Country music newcomer Bre Kennedy releases a beautifully written and executed single with “Before I Have A Daughter.” Co-written with hit maker Lori McKenna, “Before I Have A Daughter” finds Kennedy thinking out her adult life before starting a family. The acoustically driven track is a poetic track written about foresight and the future. It has a twist that we haven’t quite heard in a while and Kennedy’s pure and raw vocals fit perfectly with the vulnerable song.
