Elle Winter was cracking under the pressure of others’ expectations. When she entered the studio one day, she had the idea to write “Help,” as a way to deconstruct her inner turmoil. What resulted is an almost wattz-like bedazzler. “Sometimes, I’m hurting / Damn, I need help!” she sings before lamenting, “Is the burden too heavy?” There may not be concrete answers at the moment, yet there is power in confrontation. “So much on my heart, I might let go,” she considers. It’s a delicate dance, cutting off those toxic standards placed upon women and learning how to let it all slide from your shoulders.
