Miko Marks delivers one of the year’s best performances with her song “Lay Your Burdens Down.” A riverside hymnal through and through, the Feel Like Going Home standout oozes with conviction, and if you’re not totally moved, you’re heart must be made of granite. “Dark are the days when you walk alone,” she muses. “Cold is the ground where you sleep / Though your heart may be weary of turning to stone / These healing waters run deep.” She then invites the listener to “be not dismayed” even though life may feel overwhelming. There is power in, well, laying your burdens down.
