“Lift Me Up” may only be a soundtrack cut (from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), but it’s at least something. It’s Rihanna’s first ounce of new music since 2020’s “BELIEVE IT” and “Lemon” with Drake in 2018. As far as albums go, she hasn’t released a record in six very long years. With “Lift Me Up,” Rihanna showcases her silky vocal tone, fluttering across an orchestral-led arrangement. “Drowning in an endless sea / Take some time and stay with me / Keep me in the strength of your arms,” she sings, sweetly gliding on the melody. It’s powerful and altogether angelic.
