River Town Saints throw love dice into the air. Whatever it turns up is the move they make next. Well, at least in terms of an on-again, off-again romance that just won’t let them sleep. With “Goodbye Ain’t a Game,” the country band laments a relationship that see-saws from hot and heavy to cold and distant. “Hard to keep you close if we’re always keeping score,” sings frontman Chase Kasner. Feeling like a fool, Kasner accepts that racking up points ultimately gets no one across the finish line. In fact, they both “end up in last place.” Guitars swarm around his voice, which stands immovable like a cedar. He might be in pain, but he manages to push through the pain.
