“Was there life before there was us?” ponders Morgan Wade. Based on the title alone, you’d never guess her new song “Psychopath” was a love song. “You were born a wild child, ridin’ down the road, messin’ with my radio dial,” she sings in the second verse. Their relationship, born out of a humorous encounter at the bar, grows and flourishes. Guitar adorns the arrangement, minimalist in presentation and tone. Saying “I love you” doesn’t seem “like enough,” she sings, yet those words capture the entirety of their time together. Wade’s words are frank, and buried beneath is a heart so strong and unrelenting that you can feel it through the speakers.
