Adam Mac – “The One That Got Away”

Adam Mac delivers a wallop of a performance with “The One That Got Away,” an essential from his brand new Disco Cowboy record. Thinking back on his life, he relives the decision to leave his hometown behind, depicting it as a suffocating trap. “It’s not that I don’t love the place where I was raised,” he sings with an ache oozing from his heart onto his sleeve. “But who knows who I would have been if I would have stayed.” Mac’s voice bowls you over with a raw intensity; it’s as though he’s performing like his life depends on it. And in many ways, it does. He’s a living testament that to live your most authentic self, you need to leave some things in your rearview mirror.
