Rae Spoon wears their heart on their sleeve. That’s the only way to live, despite a world hellbent on destroying you. “They’ll never break me if I have an open heart,” sings Spoon. The appropriately-titled “Open Heart” throbs with the idea that leading with your heart results in feeling alive. There’s nothing more exhilarating than your emotions coursing in your veins, fueling your body to forge ahead in a hate-filled society. “Open heart, lead me wherever I go,” Spoon sings, their voice distorted in the mix. Joy hangs on their lips, so it’s no wonder it leads a new album called No Dead Yet. Indeed, Rae Spoon isn’t dead after four long years since last releasing music. They’re back with a vengeance.
