Jline – “Whiplash”

A relationship swallowed him whole. Jline could barely swim, so he was pulled down by a riptide. With “Whiplash,” the pop singer-songwriter explores that experience and how he lost himself through love. “I lost so much of myself, and now I’m seeing nothing / I kept on giving and giving and giving, wishing and wishing and wishing, hoping and praying that someday I’d be the one.” Drums kick in the eardrums, as Jline’s voice bops along the melody with agility. His prayers and wishes fell on deaf ears, so he was left to claw his own way out. In writing “Whiplash,” he not only flies free but he’s finally able to process the past.
