Kelly Clarkson – “roses”

Kelly Clarkson keeps the heartache going with “roses,” a cut from a forthcoming deluxe edition of her album chemistry. Drums palpitate in a heartbeat fashion, slipping in between the cracks in the arrangement. Clarkson’s voice is unsurprisingly hypnotic and expressive, curling around her words like teardrops. “It’s too late for diamonds, they all come with chains,” she sings. “So don’t waste your money on it, we can’t be saved / There ain’t enough roses.” What’s done is done, and now all that is left is to pick up the fragments and move on. She deserves some dignity, at least.
